Modern Slavery Statement
Tooting Movers Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Tooting Movers for the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Tooting Movers is committed to conducting business in an ethical and responsible manner and to respecting the human rights and dignity of all individuals who work with or for us.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Tooting Movers operates in the removals and relocation sector, providing moving and associated services to residential and commercial customers. Our operations rely on a range of suppliers and contractors, including vehicle and equipment providers, storage facilities, packaging material suppliers, and labour and logistics partners. We recognise that some of these areas, particularly where subcontracted labour is used, can present a higher risk of exploitation if not managed carefully.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, child labour, and human trafficking in all their forms. This applies to our own activities and to everyone in our supply chain. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation that is involved in modern slavery practices or that fails to demonstrate adequate controls to prevent such practices.
All employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers are expected to act with integrity at all times and to align with our values and policies in relation to human rights, labour standards, and ethical conduct.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
Tooting Movers is developing and maintaining a structured approach to supplier due diligence to identify, assess, and mitigate the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains. As part of this approach, we aim to:
Conduct risk-based assessments of new and existing suppliers, considering factors such as sector, geography, and reliance on temporary or migrant labour. Request information from suppliers about their own policies, practices, and controls to prevent modern slavery. Include contractual provisions that require suppliers to comply with all applicable modern slavery legislation and to operate in line with our zero-tolerance stance. Reserve the right to conduct audits or site visits, announced or unannounced, where proportionate and practical, to verify compliance with our expectations and to review working conditions and employment practices.
Where concerns are identified, we will work collaboratively with suppliers to address and remediate issues. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to take appropriate corrective action, we will consider ending the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Raising Concerns
Tooting Movers encourages a culture of openness where concerns about unethical behaviour, including suspected modern slavery, can be raised without fear of retaliation. Any employee, worker, contractor, or other stakeholder who has concerns about possible modern slavery in our business or supply chains is encouraged to report it through internal management channels.
Reports can be made to a line manager or senior manager, and we expect managers to act promptly and sensitively on any concern raised. All reports will be treated seriously, investigated thoroughly where appropriate, and handled as confidentially as is reasonably possible. No individual will suffer any detrimental treatment for raising a concern in good faith.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to improving awareness and understanding of modern slavery risks among our workforce. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management, will receive guidance to help them recognise indicators of exploitation and understand the steps to take if they have concerns.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
Tooting Movers recognises that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We will review this Modern Slavery Statement annually, or more frequently where necessary, to reflect changes in legislation, best practice, or our business operations. As part of this review, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our existing measures, consider feedback from stakeholders, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Future actions may include enhancing our supplier due diligence processes, expanding training and awareness initiatives, and developing more detailed performance indicators to measure our progress in preventing modern slavery.
This Statement has been approved on behalf of the management of Tooting Movers and reflects our continuing commitment to act ethically and transparently in all our business dealings.
